Feather Stroke Brows

Say goodbye to the old style of block tattooed brows and hello to the next generation of tattooing!

Eyebrows frame the face, and when designed correctly, can add symmetry and definition to lift the eyes and create a more youthful appearance.

Unlike the old style of eyebrow tattooing, Feather Stroke Brows (also known as Microblading) is a semi permanent form of eyebrow tattooing, lasting between 12 - 18 months. The feathering technique means each stroke is carefully drawn on one by one with a hand/tool pen and tiny blade, ensuring a natural look! Feather touch eyebrows gives the effect of ultra-fine, delicate hair strokes that blend seamlessly and mimic your natural brow hair. The pigment is not placed as deep into the skin as a normal tattoo, and we DO NOT use the same ink. A medical grade iron-oxide pigment is used, which is hypo-allergenic, and allergies are extremely rare.

Who Would Benefit From Feather Stroke Brows:

Feather Stroke brows are perfect for those who apply brow powder or pencil every day to fill in bald spots. For those who have very naturally thin brows who desire a fuller and more defined shape.

For clients who suffer from Alopecia or other hair loss conditions. Years of overplucking following the old "thin brow" fashion trend may have resulted in the hair not growing back, so feather brows is just perfect to get your brows looking full and fab again!

The Procedure:

Feather Stroke eyebrows require two appointments 4 -6 weeks apart. The initial procedure will take approximately two hours. We will begin with a full consultation and choose a colour which suits your skin tone. Your brows will then be measured and drawn on where you can decide how natural or bold you would like to go, and only with your approval on your desired shape will we start the procedure.

Because client comfort is the utmost importance, a topical numbing cream is applied 15 min prior to procedure, and a topical anaesthetic gel is applied onto the brow after each pass.

Immediately after your first treatment your brows will appear darker and more intense. this will soften over 7 - 10 days. Everyones skin is completely different and we all heal very differently. Some people hold pigment much better than others so you will get different degrees of fading. You may loose up to 50% of the colour during the healing phase which is why it is absolutely necessary to have a perfection visit 4 - 6 weeks following your treatment to get your end result. During this visit we will fill in any areas where needed and place more pigment in to the skin to allow it to fully settle in.

To keep your brows looking fresh, yearly touch ups are recommended. Touch ups at Beautology between 12 -14 months are at a lesser price.

Important Information:

Vitamins, Aspirin or capsules taken which have oil content (e.g. fish oil) should be ceased 7 - 14 days prior to your procedure as with any blood thinners (check with Dr). These thin the blood which can cause more bleeding during treatment – resulting in the pigment not holding as well. It is recommended to stay away from alcohol for a few days leading up to treatment as alcohol can thin the blood also.

It is important that the tattooist is informed if any medication is being taken, if you suffer with keloid scarring or have any medical problems. If you have high or low blood pressure or any other heart conditions you must let your therapist know ASAP, as you may need to seek advice from your GP before the treatment can be carried out. Extended sun exposure, using Retin-A and Glycolic Acid will fade out colour from all treatments. Once healed (7 – 14 days after), sun block is necessary on the area at all times.

The treatment cannot be performed while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Injectables (Botox etc) should be performed at least 3 weeks prior and no sooner than 3 weeks after your cosmetic tattoo procedure.

Chemical peels should be performed no sooner than one month following your procedure. Make sure your facial therapist is aware that your eyebrows are tattooed so she/he can avoid the brow area.

Only the client is allowed in the room during procedure.

It is recommended not to sweat for 14 days following your procedure. Sweat (being a salt) will cause your tattoo to prematurely fade or cause the pigment not to take as well. Do not work out or exercise on the day of the procedure either.

YES, colour matching can be difficult at times but we will endeavour to match the colour as close as possible. Lighter colours have less longevity than darker pigments used. A re-touch for a lighter colour may be required more frequently (every 12 months) as opposed to a darker colour which may last 12 – 18 months depending on your skin type. Your eyebrows will feel a lot darker immediately after your treatment but will fade and soften within 7 days.

Many things can alter the end result of the pigment colour in the skin; pigment, acid, oils in your own skin, and neglecting to follow the home care instructions.

The healing time is minimal for all treatments, hardly noticeable and a small percentage of people do have some swelling, but work and all other activities can continue immediately.
